Taiwan Toy Museum

BACK
Taiwan Toy Museum was established by the late curator, Wen-Jing Jiang in October, 2003, displayed various rare antique toysand the toys of Taiwan which Jiang collected. Inheriting the culture of toy is the mission of museum, and this mission is to retain toy dreams for all our friends. The museumorganizes the toys systematically by their ages and presents the toys with stories. The development of Taiwan’s toy can be separate into four periods: Ming Qing Dynasty, Japanese-occupied period, postwar period (1940s-1960s) and the heyday (1970s-1980s). By four periods of toy development, visitors can recover the different value of Taiwan’s toy and wisdom of popular culture hidden in the toy.

Additionally, toys are not just toys when they are in children's hands because children are born players. Toys can challenge children' mind, rack their brains to invent different ways to play, get a sense of accomplishment by doing things themselves, and inspire children's imagination to be creative. Therefore, Taiwan Toy Museum also provides the toys that fit in with theme and situation. Visitors can experience and recollect the memories of childhood, and children can be distant from computers and cell-phones temporarily. Parents and children can enjoy the fun of toys and art together.
